Start the Year Out TOXIC
By Toxic M3 | January 2, 2008
So, it’s that time of the year when we make those resolutions. How many of you want to lose some weight? I’m sure most of us do, but we are going to give you tips that will help you do it the healthy way. No miracle pills, or crazy diets; just straight up healthy eating and exercise.
So here is the Toxic-Sports weight loss regimen.
#1: Exercise
This is surely nothing new to anyone when it comes to weight loss, but you can’t escape it. If you truly wish to lose weight, you need to exercise. It’s recommended that you do 30 to 60 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous exercise. However, that doesn’t mean it has to be hard. Some great examples would be: a light jog, swimming, weight lifting, or even a game of basketball. Just as long as you are breaking a sweat, you are working out.
#2: Watch your diet
All too often when we think about about healthy eating, images of soy milk and gluten free noodles pop up into our head. Now, although these are great food alternatives, they are not necessary to lose weight. It’s really quite simple to eat healthy. All it takes is common sense and a little bit of discipline.
For starters, put down the soda. Soda is high in sugar and corn syrup which are the two leading causes of obesity. Drink water!
Second, watch your calorie intake, most people should take in no more than 1,700 calories a day.
Third, eat plenty of vegetables and whole grains. Studies show that the average American does not consume the proper serving of either.
Fourth, watch your portions. If you monitor your portions, then you shouldn’t have any trouble watching your caloric intake. Finally, use common sense. When you don’t think you should eat something, then don’t. It all comes down to simple logic.
#3: Support
Have you ever heard the expression “Healthy competition”? Well, you can apply the very same principle to dieting and working out. When you exercise with a friend, it fosters a healthy sense of competition and a greater sense of obligation when it comes time to work out. If you can’t find a reliable partner, then you may want to consider going to workout sessions at your local gym. With so many people at these sessions, you will surely find someone to work with.
Worst case scenario, you can join an online support group and post your progress for all the world to see. Just don’t stay on the computer for too long!
#4: Goal Setting
Setting goals will put you on the fast track to success in your mission to shed extra pounds. By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in your achievements. You can see the progress you are making when you reach a goal and appreciate what you might have previously seen as a long, pointless grind.
By setting goals, you will raise your confidence, as you recognize your ability to achieve the goals that you have set.
#5: Have Fun
The easiest way to avoid frustration is to find something you really enjoy! There are thousands of activities you can make your own. Walk your dog, go for a swim, play some touch football, sail toy boats, play frisbee golf!
The world is your oyster. The important thing is that you are out enjoying it!
At times you may question why you are doing this, and you may get frustrated, but press through. If you stick with it, you will start seeing results. You will get better and better, and eventually it will become fun again.
Have a TOXIC new year!

Louise Johnson
By Toxic M3 | December 1, 2007
Kick Down MMA hosted its first ever Womens’ MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) event recently and Louise Johnson dominated. She gained full mount in all three rounds; dropping punches, hammer fists and forearms on Lacey Whitlatch. Whitlatch did an admirable job defending the blows, but couldn’t escape Louise’s vice-like positioning. After two solid rounds of full mount striking and a carbon-copy beginning to the third, referee Curtis Thrasher had seen enough and called a halt to the punishment.
Louise had a tremendous amount of support from the crowd, which included many of her military buddies from the Army’s Special Forces. Louise Johnson, you are TOXIC!
